As the 6th Hobie® Fishing World Championship draws closer, we will put together some notes using local knowledge on some of the preferred tackle to use on the event venue. Of course, you’re free to make your own decisions but a couple of recommendations from the locals will be listed below.
A variety of techniques will catch the same fish. Topwater catches redfish and trout. Jigs are effective for all 3 species. A small variety of gear, a light, a medium and a heavy set up should cover you for all three.
Average temperatures for the Lafourche Parish area in December range between 57ºF (14ºC) and 64ºF (18ºC) with an average rainfall of 4.8 Inches (12 cm) . We recommend that you bring wet weather gear and layers to accommodate for shifting temperatures.
You will need to bring a digital camera with a removable memory card. To simplify the scoring process please ensure your memory card contains only images of the fish you wish to present for scoring.
