Nate Gloria is a 27-year-old bass angler from Omaha, Nabraska in the USA, who is representing the United States for the first time at a world championship.
Gloria is a member of the Hobie Fishing Team in the USA and is passionate about sharing his experiences in the hope of inspiring others to chase their dreams.
Gloria earned his qualification place at Hobie Fishing Worlds 8 (HFW8) in November 2018, at the Tournament of Champions at Lake Fork in Texas.
On day one of the tournament, where anglers were targeting Largemouth Bass, Gloria scored a five fish bag of 85.50 inches (217.17cm). He went into day two of the event sitting in third place behind Texas resident Layne Grant who scored an impressive 96.5 inches (245.11cm).
Gloria rounded out day two with another five fish bag of bass, which scored 92.25 inches (234.32cm), giving him a two day total of 177.75 inches (451.49cm) to take the win by a landslide, and securing his place in the 8th Hobie Fishing World Championship (HFW8) to be contested on the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia in July this year.
Gloria predominately targets bass and will have to adjust to the saltwater Yellow Fin Bream species anglers will be targeting, in the Nerang River estuary, on the Gold Coast in HFW8.
When asked what he was most excited about after his big win, the large cash purse or HFW8 Invitation? Nate responded,
“HFW8 Invite for sure, this is a dream opportunity that every kayak angler in the world works toward.”
Nate leaves at home in the United States his first newborn daughter, Kamryn Christina Gloria, who he credits as his inspiration during his big win at Lake Fork, Texas.
