Last night, the 2024 Hobie Fishing Worlds officially launched with a buzz of excitement at Caesar’s Casino in Windsor Essex. Fifty world-class kayak anglers, local council representatives, and Hobie team members gathered for a night of celebration and anticipation.
Tournament Director Steve Fields kicked off the evening, welcoming the anglers and sharing the rich history of the Hobie Fishing Worlds. His enthusiasm set the tone for what promises to be an unforgettable event.

Hobie President Marty Pathak took the stage next, offering his heartfelt congratulations to the anglers. He praised their dedication and shared his ongoing passion for the sport, wishing everyone the best of luck.
Councillor James Dorner extended a warm welcome to Tecumseh, expressing his excitement for hosting such a prestigious tournament. His words underscored the community’s support and eagerness for the event.
Special guest Mr. Haiyang Li from Lurefans introduced a new type of lure, presenting each angler with a special Lurefans gift bag, adding a touch of generosity and innovation to the evening.
Team Canada spoke of their enthusiasm for the tournament, expressing their hopes for a successful week of fishing with more than enough smallmouth bass for everyone to have a great tournament. Their key pice of advice… “Don’t over think it”.
Steve Fields then brought reigning world champion Stian Slora to the stage. Slora shared his experiences since winning the Hobie Fishing Worlds in Amal, Sweden, inspiring the crowd with his journey, and showing off his Hobie Fishing Worlds 9 arm tatoo.
The night concluded on a heartwarming note as three father-and-son teams took the stage to speak about the special bonds forged through fishing with family. Their stories highlighted the camaraderie and connection that make the Hobie Fishing Worlds so unique.
With the opening night setting such a high bar, the 2024 Hobie Fishing Worlds is off to an incredible start!
