International anglers have started to arrive!
Yesterday forty-two from eighteen countries started to arrive at the event headquarters here in Åmål, Sweden. The championships will take place from August 9th -15th to battle it out in three days of the most competitive kayak fishing ever seen for the coveted title of Daiwa – Hobie Fishing World Champion.
On August 10th and 11th, anglers will have the opportunity to get on the water with factory supplied Hobie® Pro Angler 14 kayaks, fitted with Lowrance Elite FS™ 7 with Active Imaging 3-in-1 fish finder, powered up with a NOCQUA battery, a Power-Pole Micro Anchor and RAM Mounts on Lake Vanern.
Vanern is the third largest lake in Europe and is part of a unique archipelago with a length of almost two hundred kilometers. It holds a vast variety of fish, including exceptionally large pike, but it also holds a large number of trout and salmon, even up to around 8-9 kg and 90cm in length. They can be caught as bi-catch when targeting pike, particularly around autumn. Pike between 10-14kg are common around the lake and many of the larger pike are well over the 1m mark, with some going up to 130 cm”.
