The dream became a reality today after 3 years of postponement due to Covid 19. To finally see forty-two of the world’s finest kayak anglers, descend on Åmål, Sweden to battle it out in three days of the most competitive kayak fishing ever seen for the coveted title of Daiwa – Hobie Fishing World Championships was a long overdue.
The event featured guest from the Amal City Council, Michael Karlsson (Mayor), Johan Trollnäs (CEO of Visit Dalsland – Head of Regional tourism), Jenny Christensen (business developer) , Adam Staf (communicator), Kristoffer Ljung (Head of the Business and Communications unit), Helena Vretman (Stand-in head of the Municipality in Jan-Erik’s absence) and Björn Wennerström (Head of the Building and Planning unit) and Sportfishing Dalsland – Andy van Assema.
Angler were treated to some amazing Tapas at the closure of the historic day and the firing of the Caroliner canons bought back a tradition seen in Hobie Fishing Worlds 7 in 2018.
Tomorrow is the first of two practice or pre-fish days in which international anglers some, for the first time on Lake Vanern is the third largest lake in Europe and is part of a unique archipelago with a length of almost two hundred kilometers.
