The Hobie Tournament Team is continually monitoring the coronavirus situation throughout the country. As the situation changes from state to state, and developments occur within regional areas, we repeatedly review the best way to approach the running of each of the tournaments relating to Series 12 of the Hobie Kayak Fishing Series presented by DIAWA.
We continue to maintain the highest level of compliance with, and strictly follow, all government directives. Further to this we also have a moral responsibility to the people who live in the areas where the tournaments are held, and to the dedicated Hobie anglers who are the core of the series. With this in mind, we believe that postponing the Gold Coast round is the most appropriate decision to make in the circumstances.
This decision is not an easy one. We trust that you understand and appreciate the moral and social responsibilities, and planning logistics that have had to be taken into consideration when making these difficult, and most certainly unpopular decisions. In the long term, however, they are made in the best interests of all involved, and for the longevity of the national series itself.
Hopefully, the situation across the country shows signs of improving in times not too far away, and we can return to running the safe and enjoyable tournaments, that Hobie Fishing has had a reputation for organising over the past 12 seasons.
We will continue to keep you informed regarding all further decisions made relating to the Gold Coast round, as well as all other decisions that are likely to be forthcoming as a result of the current COVID-19 situation.
We appreciate your understanding and look forward to getting out on the water as soon as possible. Stay safe, stay positive and think about those around you.
Thank you for your patience.
The Hobie Tournament Team.
