RAM Mounts Official Practice Day 1 Kicks Off!

After an incredible opening ceremony, the 2024 Hobie Fishing Worlds kicked off today with the RAM Mounts Official Practice Day 1, setting the stage in calm, picturesque conditions on Lake St. Clair in Tecumseh, Windsor, Ontario.

At the crack of dawn, anglers were already on site, rigging their boats by 7:00 am, with the fleet receiving a heartfelt blessing from Carrie Ann Peters.

Fifty top anglers from 16 countries launched their kayaks from the Hobie start line. Perfect conditions—a light 5 km/h breeze and overcast skies—provided a refreshing break from the recent heatwave, making for an ideal practice session.

Today, competitors scouted prime fishing spots for the upcoming official competition days, getting to know their Factory Supplied Hobie Pro Angler 14 with 360XR Mirage Drive. They also familiarized themselves with the TourneyX app, which they’ll use to submit their catches for scoring.

At the end of the RAM Mounts Practice Day over 110 Small Mouth Bass were caught and measured through the TourneyX App.

At the 3:00pm close, Richard Ofner from Canada led the first practice day with an aggregate length of 87.25″ for 5 fish, followed by Mathew Tan from Singapore with 86.75″ for 5 and Finn Sloth from Denmark with 5 for 85.75″. Full results can be seen below. All in all Lake St.Clair delivered a great day on the water for what is shaping up to be a sensational World Championship.
