HOBIE FISHING WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP 9

The original dates for Hobie Fishing Worlds 9 were to be from June 2nd – June 9th, 2020. However, with the uncertainty of the Covid-19 outbreak the International Hobie Fishing World Association (IHFWA) committee has had to make a responsible decision regarding the safety of competitors, family and friends, event and support personnel, and spectators who would have attended this year’s event during the originally proposed June time frame.
While the number of cases inside China is rapidly declining, the sudden spread of the virus, in other countries outside of China, is of concern to the event organisers, and has formed part of our decision-making process. Another factor is that some countries have blocked international travel as a precautionary measure. This alone could have affected the attendance of some competitors and staff at HFW9 if held in June. The Hobie Company and the IHFWA committee felt that it would be in the best interest of all parties to reschedule the event due to the Covid-19 outbreak.
By rescheduling the event, it gives everyone a chance to monitor the pathway of the outbreak in this current climate of uncertainty.
Venue & Dates
The provisional dates and location for the 9th Hobie® Fishing World Championship will now be from the 23rd to 28th August 2020, in Åmål, Sweden.
HFW9 Review Date
As part of our risk management strategy, we are going to review the provisional dates on April 15 and provide competitors with an update on the status of the event.
Invitations and Entry Forms
At this point our aim is to send out official invitations and entry forms on April 20th. If for any reason we can safely move this forward, then we will.
Travel Plans
We strongly suggest that you wait until the final confirmation of the event dates before making travel arrangements. Hobie Company, Hobie Kayaks Europe and the IHFWA will not accept any liability for financial loss due to changes to the location, venue, dates and or times.
