The AFTCO, Practice (pre-fish) Day 1 of the 9th Hobie Fishing Worlds started today in idyllic conditions here in Amal Sweden.
Today’s event saw the blessing of the fleet by Jesper Pålsson and the singing of the Swedish National Anthem by Anki Frisk and daughter.
Forty-two anglers from eighteen countries made their way to the kayak launch area before taking off from the Power-Pole start line.
The weather was spot on for fishing with winds in the morning from 4 knots then increasing to 17 knots, later in the afternoon. Sunny skies prevailed after a cloudy start and temperatures hitting 26c (80f) by mind afternoon.
Kristine Fisher, from Team USA was at the top of the ladder by the end of the day, while Manon Rocher from France, Jack Gammie – Team Australia, Janne Koivisto – Finland and Jonathan Chen – Team Australia rounded out the top five.
